Local TV, radio and other news outlets had received calls from several residents reporting helicopters darting between skyscrapers and carrying armed troops over City Hall.
Some speculated that the maneuvers were part of a movie shoot, but a notice on the LAPD blog revealed that police would be assisting the military in a group of urban exercises that will end Saturday.
In addition to the downtown flights, other activities are planned around town, so police said residents should not be alarmed if they happen across military units in uniform or carrying weapons."
I hope that they don't trying to get us to accept armed military units walking the streets as the norm, has anyone in another major city seen this happen in their metro area???Brittney you sound like someone who would have fitted right in Nazi Germany, the kind of person who never questions authority part of a mindless heard lead to slaughter. at the Oxford Union who has stated very eloquently how western demographics forced segmentation on peoples based on linguistics and created fractures in certain populations while forcing instead allowing natural cohesion in others. Though the West always refers to Sri Lanka as being a tri-parte ethnic composition, there is nothing further from the truth. Those who think that there are only two languages spoken on island are sorely mistaken. I do not know who sits at your Sri Lanka Desk at the State Department but the levels of misinformation and/or disinformation needs to be checked. It is impossible for the US to gain or give a fair assessment with incorrect data. The IC has asked for a peace process and that is exactly what is happening in Sri Lanka.
It has only been one month since cessation of hostilities and there will be continued mop up operations on island for a duration - the crucial part of which is that further war-like equipment is arrested from entering the island and all terrorists and combatants are detained and rehabilitated. Since there was a surrender of several hundred more just a few days ago it is logically probable that more will be revealed.

Recently, I was browsing the internet and found very interesting article.
During the 1980s, when Russian troops occupied Afghanistan, the USA's Central Intelligence Agency was sending arms and war material to the Afghani Mujahideen. The CIA also provided military training and logistical support to the Afghani Mujahideen. US arms dealers, CIA agents, and covert US military Special Operations troops were deeply involved in assisting the Afghan resistance to Russian occupation. The Stinger shoulder-launched anti-aircraft missiles which the USA gave to the Mujahideen enabled the Mujahideen to turn the tide of battle and to eventually defeat and expel the Russian Army from Afghanistan.
Afghanistan is a major opium-growing center, and during the Russian/Afghan conflict, heroin trafficking out of Afghanistan became a major enterprise for the CIA, which used its own fleet of difficult-to- trace aircraft to ship the drug into Europe. When I was in New Delhi in 1980, I met young Afghans who were eager to sell heroin and AK-47 automatic assault rifles to almost anyone, including random tourists.
War material from the USA for the Afghani Mujahideen was channeled through Pakistan, and during the Russian occupation of Afghanistan the US government and the Pakistani government formed a deep alliance. The arms, training, and logistical support that the USA provided to the Afghan Mujahideen was also channeled to Terrorists who are trained and supported by the Pakistani government and military to infiltrate into Indian Kashmir in an ongoing effort to destabilize the Indian control of Kashmir.
After the Russians left Afghanistan, the Pakistani-based Taleban, which had always received its primary support from the Pakistani government, seized power in Afghanistan and formed the ruling government there until the US invasion of Afghanistan in late 2001. The Pakistani government and military abandoned their open support for the Taleban when the USA bribed Pakistan with many billions of dollars in US military and economic aid just prior to the US invasion of Afghanistan.
Al Qaeda, which in Arabic means 'the Base', was originally the name that the CIA station chiefs in Saudi Arabia gave to the database that they created to keep track of the individuals and groups to which the US government was providing funds for the Afghani Mujahideen during the Russian occupation of Afghanistan.
During the Russian occupation of Afghanistan, Osama bin Laden was an organizer for the Afghani Mujahideen. Bin Laden worked to help funnel US arms and supplies to the Mujahideen, and bin Laden helped bring Saudi and other foreign fighters to Afghanistan to assist the Mujahideen. In these roles, Osama bin Laden was constantly in close communication with the CIA, and bin Laden was functioning as an agent, asset, ally, or employee of the CIA. Osama bin Laden later assisted the USA's divide-and-conquer agenda in the Balkans by recruiting Saudis and other foreign fighters for the Kosovo Liberation Army during the 1990s. The Balkans are an entry-point for heroin trafficking into Europe, and the CIA, assisted by the Al Qeada volunteers recruited by Osama bin Laden, engaged in heroin, arms, and human trafficking there.
Ex-US President George H. Bush and his son, the current US President George Walker Bush, have been close friends with the bin Laden family of Saudi Arabia since the 1980s. The bin Laden family business involves major construction projects throughout the Middle East, and the US government and US corporations have been frequent customers of the bin Ladens. On the day after the 9/11/2001 attacks on the World Trade Center Twin Towers in New York City and on the Pentagon in Washington D.C., President George W. Bush authorized the departure of members of the bin Laden family for flights back to Saudi Arabia without any of the bin Ladens being subject to any questioning by the US intelligence agents or law enforcement.
Osama bin Laden has never claimed responsibility for the 9/11 attacks on the WTC and the Pentagon, and officials at the USA's Federal Bureau of Investigation have stated that they do not list Osama bin Laden as a suspect in the 9/11 attacks because they "do not have sufficient evidence that Osama bin Laden was involved in the 9/11 attacks." Since 9/11, several videos and audiotapes have been posted on the Internet that purport to show Osama bin Laden, but all of them have been proven to be forgeries. President George W. Bush has publicly stated, "I don't care about Osama bin Laden" and Bush has also publicly dismissed any need to find or capture Osama bin Laden.
Al Qaeda is nothing more than a bogey man, an invented ghost to frighten children and the ignorant. Al Qaeda is the invisible and nonexistent enemy that the US government has manufactured to provide an excuse for its never-ending 'War on Terrorism', which is in reality a war of US aggression for US domination of the world and its resources. This letter is respectfully submitted to inform you that I must decline the invitation to participate in the May 4 roundtable meeting the President’s Task Force on Detention Policy is convening with current and former prosecutors involved in international terrorism cases. An invitation was extended to me by trial lawyers from the Counterterrorism Section, who are members of the Task Force, which you are leading.
The invitation email (of April 14) indicates that the meeting is part of an ongoing effort to identify lawful policies on the detention and disposition of alien enemy combatants—or what the Department now calls “individuals captured or apprehended in connection with armed conflicts and counterterrorism operations.” I admire the lawyers of the Counterterrorism Division, and I do not question their good faith. Nevertheless, it is quite clear—most recently, from your provocative remarks on Wednesday in Germany—that the Obama administration has already settled on a policy of releasing trained jihadists (including releasing some of them into the United States). Whatever the good intentions of the organizers, the meeting will obviously be used by the administration to claim that its policy was arrived at in consultation with current and former government officials experienced in terrorism cases and national security issues. I deeply disagree with this policy, which I believe is a violation of federal law and a betrayal of the president’s first obligation to protect the American people. Under the circumstances, I think the better course is to register my dissent, rather than be used as a prop.
Moreover, in light of public statements by both you and the President, it is dismayingly clear that, under your leadership, the Justice Department takes the position that a lawyer who in good faith offers legal advice to government policy makers—like the government lawyers who offered good faith advice on interrogation policy—may be subject to investigation and prosecution for the content of that advice, in addition to empty but professionally damaging accusations of ethical misconduct. Given that stance, any prudent lawyer would have to hesitate before offering advice to the government.
Beyond that, as elucidated in my writing (including my proposal for a new national security court, which I understand the Task Force has perused), I believe alien enemy combatants should be detained at Guantanamo Bay (or a facility like it) until the conclusion of hostilities. This national defense measure is deeply rooted in the venerable laws of war and was reaffirmed by the Supreme Court in the 2004 Hamdi case. Yet, as recently as Wednesday, you asserted that, in your considered judgment, such notions violate America’s “commitment to the rule of law.” Indeed, you elaborated, “Nothing symbolizes our [adminstration’s] new course more than our decision to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay…. President Obama believes, and I strongly agree, that Guantanamo has come to represent a time and an approach that we want to put behind us: a disregard for our centuries-long respect for the rule of law[.]” (Emphasis added.)
Given your policy of conducting ruinous criminal and ethics investigations of lawyers over the advice they offer the government, and your specific position that the wartime detention I would endorse is tantamount to a violation of law, it makes little sense for me to attend the Task Force meeting. After all, my choice would be to remain silent or risk jeopardizing myself.
For what it may be worth, I will say this much. For eight years, we have had a robust debate in the United States about how to handle alien terrorists captured during a defensive war authorized by Congress after nearly 3000 of our fellow Americans were annihilated. Essentially, there have been two camps. One calls for prosecution in the civilian criminal justice system, the strategy used throughout the 1990s. The other calls for a military justice approach of combatant detention and war-crimes prosecutions by military commission. Because each theory has its downsides, many commentators, myself included, have proposed a third way: a hybrid system, designed for the realities of modern international terrorism—a new system that would address the needs to protect our classified defense secrets and to assure Americans, as well as our allies, that we are detaining the right people.

With 14 confirmed cases of the swine flu illness in California, state health authorities have taken several preventive steps to mitigate the impacts and slow the spread of the virus. In the United States, there are 91 confirmed cases and one death in Texas. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in conjunction with state and local health officials, are in California providing assistance and closely monitoring the ongoing swine flu situation.
In addition, California has activated the Joint Emergency Operations Center (JEOC) of the Department of Public Health in coordination with the California Emergency Management Agency and expanded public health laboratory testing of potential flu specimens.
On Thursday, the Senate Committee on Health and the Select Committee on Disaster and Emergency Response will be holding a joint hearing to discuss issues related to the swine flu.

Hezbollah is using the same southern narcotics routes that Mexican drug kingpins do to smuggle drugs and people into the United States, reaping money to finance its operations and threatening U.S. national security, current and former U.S. law enforcement, defense and counterterrorism officials say.
The Iran-backed Lebanese group has long been involved in narcotics and human trafficking in South America's tri-border region of Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. Increasingly, however, it is relying on Mexican narcotics syndicates that control access to transit routes into the U.S.
Hezbollah relies on "the same criminal weapons smugglers, document traffickers and transportation experts as the drug cartels," said Michael Braun, who just retired as assistant administrator and chief of operations at the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
"They work together," said Mr. Braun. "They rely on the same shadow facilitators. One way or another, they are all connected.
"They'll leverage those relationships to their benefit, to smuggle contraband and humans into the U.S.; in fact, they already are [smuggling]."
His comments were confirmed by six U.S. officials, including law enforcement, defense and counterterrorism specialists. They spoke on the condition that they not be named because of the sensitivity of the topic.
While Hezbollah appears to view the U.S. primarily as a source of cash - and there have been no confirmed Hezbollah attacks within the U.S. - the group's growing ties with Mexican drug cartels are particularly worrisome at a time when a war against and among Mexican narco-traffickers has killed 7,000 people in the past year and is destabilizing Mexico along the U.S. border.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was in Mexico on Thursday to discuss U.S. aid. Other U.S. Cabinet officials and President Obama are slated to visit in the coming weeks.
Hezbollah is based in Lebanon. Since its inception after the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982, it has grown into a major political, military and social welfare organization serving Lebanon's large Shi'ite Muslim community.
In 2006, it fought a 34-day war against Israel, which remains its primary adversary. To finance its operations, it relies in part on funding from a large Lebanese Shi'ite Muslim diaspora that stretches from the Middle East to Africa and Latin America. Some of the funding comes from criminal enterprises.
Although there have been no confirmed cases of Hezbollah moving terrorists across the Mexico border to carry out attacks in the United States, Hezbollah members and supporters have entered the country this way.
Last year, Salim Boughader Mucharrafille was sentenced to 60 years in prison by Mexican authorities on charges of organized crime and immigrant smuggling. Mucharrafille, a Mexican of Lebanese descent, owned a cafe in the city of Tijuana, across the border from San Diego. He was arrested in 2002 for smuggling 200 people, said to include Hezbollah supporters, into the U.S.
In 2001, Mahmoud Youssef Kourani crossed the border from Mexico in a car and traveled to Dearborn, Mich. Kourani was later charged with and convicted of providing "material support and resources ... to Hezbollah," according to a 2003 indictment.
A U.S. official with knowledge of U.S. law enforcement operations in Latin America said, "we noted the same trends as Mr. Braun" and that Hezbollah has used Mexican transit routes to smuggle contraband and people into the U.S.
Two U.S. law enforcement officers, familiar with counterterrorism operations in the U.S. and Latin America, said that "it was no surprise" that Hezbollah members have entered the U.S. border through drug cartel transit routes.
"The Mexican cartels have no loyalty to anyone," one of the officials told The Washington Times. "They will willingly or unknowingly aid other nefarious groups into the U.S. through the routes they control. It has already happened. That's why the border is such a serious national security issue."
One U.S. counterterrorism official said that while "there's reason to believe that [Hezbollah members] have looked at the southern border to enter the U.S. ... to date their success has been extremely limited."
However, another U.S. counterterrorism official confirmed that the U.S. is watching closely the links between Hezbollah and drug cartels and said it is "not a good picture."

The operation targeted foreign-born members and associates of MS-13 and Brown Pride street gangs.
Of those arrested, nine are nationals of Mexico and one from El Salvador. All of them were found to be illegally present in the United States and are now in ICE custody; however, two of them, although administratively arrested, were remanded to State custody due to criminal offenses that include narcotics violations and obstruction of justice. ICE will begin removal proceedings on all of them.
"Public safety is a significant part of ICE's role in protecting the homeland, but it is also a shared law enforcement mission," said Delbert Richburg, assistant special agent in charge of ICE's Office of Investigations in Charlotte. "ICE works closely with other federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to keep our communities safe, which in this case is the removal of criminal gang members and others who threaten the safety of Brockton neighborhoods."
Transnational gangs pose a growing public safety threat to communities throughout the country. It is estimated that there are more 900 different gangs in the United States. These gangs no longer own turf in just the inner city but have spread their criminal networks throughout suburban and rural communities.
These transnational street gangs have a significant number of foreign-born members and are frequently involved in human and contraband smuggling, immigration violations and other crimes. Like any street gang, these transnational gangs also have a propensity toward violence. Their members commit a myriad crimes including robbery, extortion, assault, rape and murder.

On the heels of two active duty members of the U.S. military serving in Iraq calling for President Obama to prove his eligibility to be president, a retired major general has agreed to join the case, saying he just wants "the truth."
WND reported earlier when 1st Lt. Scott Easterling confirmed to California attorney Orly Taitz that he wanted to be a plaintiff in the legal action she is preparing on behalf of members of the U.S. military, both active and retired. A second soldier who asked that his name be withheld for now became part of the action just a day later.
Now retired Maj. Gen. Carroll D. Childers has submitted a statement to Taitz and her DefendOurFreedoms.us website, agreeing to be a plaintiff in her pending action.
"I agree to be a plaintiff in the legal action to be filed by Orly Taitz, Esq. in a petition for a declaratory judgement (sic) that Barack Hussein Obama is not qualified to be president of the U.S., nor to be commander in chief of the U.S. armed forces, in that I am or was a sworn member of the U.S. military (subject to recall)," he wrote.
If recalled, he would be "unable to follow any orders given by a constitutionally unqualified commander in chief, since by doing so I would be subject to charges of aiding and abetting fraud and committing acts of treason," he wrote.
In an accompanying letter, Childers said, "What I really want is the truth; is Obama a natural born citizen of the United States. If not a natural born citizen, America has been defrauded and then we would be stuck with Joe Biden whose only redeeming attribute is that he is probably not a communist."
He said he is an engineer after serving for 38 years in Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, Operation Desert Storm and other locations.
Childers said there were a long list of reasons he didn't support Obama for president, including "his crime associates in the USA … his promise to make coal power industry bankrupt … his spread the wealth admission … his associations with foreign leaders unfriendly to the USA … (and his lack of) integrity."
But he said he believes Obama is not eligible to be president, a claim Obama spokesmen have described to WND as "garbage."
WND has reported on multiple legal challenges to Obama's status as a "natural born citizen." The Constitution, Article 2, Section 1, states, "No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President."
Some of the lawsuits question whether he was actually born in Hawaii, as he insists. If he was born out of the country, Obama's American mother, the suits contend, was too young at the time of his birth to confer American citizenship to her son under the law at the time.
Other challenges have focused on Obama's citizenship through his father, a Kenyan subject to the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom at the time of his birth, thus making him a dual citizen. The cases contend the framers of the Constitution excluded dual citizens from qualifying as natural born.

Several of the cases have involved emergency appeals to the U.S. Supreme Court in which justices have declined to hear arguments. Among the cases turned down without a hearing at the high court have been petitions by Philip Berg, Cort Wrotnowski, Leo Donofrio and Taitz.
Military.com reported Easterling's concerns following WND's report and confirmed that Army officials said they were aware of the lieutenant's letter. The officials, Military.com said, are trying to balance the "military requirements under the Uniform Code of Military Justice versus critical freedoms that all Americans enjoy."
Commenters on the website called the soldier "a delusional racist," "moronic and irrelevent (sic)," and undeserving of his uniform.
However, some defended him.
"The questions about the POTUS and his birth were questions raised during the campaign – quite often in this website. This question was not always answered in a fashion which was clear cut yea or nay," said one forum contributor. "There are lawsuits ongoing – therefore there are other doubters."

With a government-imposed deadline for its restructuring plan just a day away, UAW Legislative Director Alan Reuther said Monday he does not expect labor agreements in time for today's deadline.

Mr. President, my question is a three part question.
First, will there be any penalties for the deadline being missed?
second, why should there be a creation of a task force to oversee this moving forward, when clearly this was part of the original deal?
They asked for billions of dollars in loans, they were aware of the conditions of the loan, and now they are in need of a task force to move things forward? Will this lead into yet another default on repaying of loans?
Third, should we as government, not loan billions of dollars, without first seeing their business plan? Isn't this how banks work in loaning businesses money?

I asked the following question before. I got excellent answers, however, many stated I should go to college to find better people. Just to let you know I went to college, I have a graduate degree in Accounting & I still owe $55,000 worth of student loans. I would like to change careers but I'm struggling VERY HARD with my disabilities from my car accident that happened in 2004. I have had 9 operations since & I just came home from the hospital today for the 10th time since. I went because I suffer extremely painful spasms that radiate from my brain stem to the left side of my head. I have Occupital & Trigenimal Neuralgia among other things. If I don't stop the pain the inflamation affects my motor functions & if left untreated I will have permanent brain damage. The car accident was not my fault. The person who caused this 3 car pile up on I-95 (where I was the middle car that landed on the car in front of me and then my car fell backwards) was obligated to pay me via their insurance paid their policy limit which was $100,000 within months of the accident. This just barely covered my hospital bill. My Lexus was totaled. I'm in serious debt from this accident & had to take a huge cut in pay because I physically can't handle what I used to before the accident. My employer said I'm not the same person because of all the mistakes I make (which I never did before the accident). My employer is right (acknowledged by all my doctors), thus, I also have been told by all my doctors to go on disability. I'm working on getting partial disability mainly for protection against discrimination for my current medical condition. I'm allowed to work while partial disability, The limited income threshold from receiving partial disability will help supplement from what I'm making now. As far as religious groups. I have tried but it's hard to be around people when you don't want to feel like a burden because of my ongoing medical problems. Also, the only sibling I had died in the auto accident & my parents can't handle anymore stress so sharing this problem with them would be too overwhelming for them. I have tried to talk to his family who not only is in denial or "tired of dealing with the problem" as they put it as long as he acts "productive" to them that's all they care about. Plus, he's a "momma's boy" so it's like he can do no wrong. The only time that I know (I suspect there were more now) that he was "busted" by them for abusing pain medication he said the pain medication was mine. However, this pain medication was something he bought online & took a much hire dose in a short period of time & when he ran out of those he vomited so much (as well as experiencing other symptoms) for 4 days before being forced to go to the hospital via ambulance (in front of his parents) & when he got there he was so dehydrated (he couldn't hold even Gatorade) that when his toxicology screen came back for opiates he was "clean." He was honest to the drs at the hospital about his opium use & that's why they suggested he see a GI doctor because his intestinal tract was in such bad shape due to ulcers from the pain med. However, since he also had food poisoning (as well as I but did not suffer because as much because I had a better GI tract) and was given antibiotics his originally suspicious parents believed that it was just food poisoning & that this non-prescribed stash was mine, which has now ruined my relationship with my in-laws even though I told them to blood test me anytime & even offer me a lie detector test. I only take my pain medication when I have spasm from MS, and now occipital & trigenimal neuralgia that I was diagnosed with after a severe 2004 auto accident for which I have had already 9 operations. A resolution from the council, particularly one that passes with such large support, can put international pressure on parties involved in a conflict. But they are in no way binding, and many in the past have been ignored by warring factions.
"We are all very conscious that peace is made on the ground while resolutions are written in the U.N.," said British Foreign Secretary David Miliband. "Our job here is to support the efforts for peace on the ground and turn the good words on paper into changes on the ground that are so desperately needed."

I weigh the same as my friend who looks perfectly normal and skinny and everything. But I still dont look skinny apart from a bit in the face. Its getting me down because I don't look anything like slim or slender I still look fat. Im so much less fat then what I used to be but I want to be normal. I lost my weight from healthy eating and I'd had a class A operation on both my feet which was the main reason of weight gain. Because I was in wheelchair for 6 weeks and I was already quite unfit. Im looking the best I have since I was seven or so but that isnt saying much. Will my body start to look normal after a while because I lost it so quick and it needs time to drop off? Or can you reccomend any exercises to do to get my stomach in shape or my pecs(moobs basically). I don't mind having a bit of a belly I just want it to be a lot flatter. Please i would appreciate any help!

If you pray, and to whoever your God is; please do so today....would you please pray for my young friend, John Romine who is battling mightily the same cancer his buddy, Eric Metz has. I found out last night that he is now in ICU at Riley Children's hospital in Indianapolis.
His Mom sent a simple message out through his Caring Bridge webpage that said:
If you can make it down to see John tonight, Please do so.....
John Romine was the young man who, because of Eric Metz, inspired me to get tested as a potential bone marrow donor. John needed a match desperately and Eric and his Mother, Lisa, worked their kahunas off to find him one.
Finally, a match was found for John, but he couldn't receive it until he had yet another round of chemotherapy, an operation on his lungs to remove scar tissue that was affecting his breathing, and the doctors could bring his health up to an acceptable level to receive the transplant.....
It has been a battle ROYALE for John and anyone who met him or followed his progress, simply adopted him as their own......including me.
I do not know if John made it last night......I keep checking the boards to see what I hope is good news! Hope is eternal; with cancer, sometimes hope is all you have to live on.
So please pray not only for John and his wonderful family, but for Eric Metz and his family also. I am sure Eric is a mess due to his own ongoing battle. John became his "mentor" of sorts at Riley when Eric was diagnosed. They love each other very deeply.

I have been having an ongoing problem for the past five years: I constantly keep running into people and neighbors who either take advantage of me or try to take me through the ringer if I no longer want to talk to him or her. I can put down some examples: A neighbor of mine was going to trial for innappropriate touching a child; so she called CPS on me when i refused to let her babysit my new born child(I was not neglecting him, I fed and clothed him appropriately and had suitable babysitter for him already) then she turned all my neighbors against me thinking I was a bad mother-I was ran out of the trailer park! I had a roommate with an income; he refused to pay towards half the rent after we both signed the lease-then he called the police on me saying I put my hands on him-because I would not give him $90! I was lucky no charges were pressed. Me and my fiancee let a homeless man his son knew stay over for a few wks-he refused to contribute(he WAS employed) and came to our door one night. He started yelling at ME saying I have a problem with him-I refused to accept the rent money he finally came up with and told him to pack up and leave. The next day he showed up and refused to leave-I called 911. Then a month later, he showed up and said my fiancee owed him the $20 I refused to accept! By the way, I never spoke to him the whole times he was staying with us-I stayed inside most of the time, and he was at work-no way we could have spoken. My fiancee's son was homeless and we let him stay with us. we bought him things he needed and let him stay rent free until he found a job. Turned out he was lying about having a job when he got one-turned out he was not the director of operations like he claimed; but just a volunteer at the humane society! then all that time he stayed with us; he spread rumors about me.
My fiancee threw him out. Another time; I had a babysitter (references incl with her)-she ended up stealing from me and had her boyfriend come over when she was supposed to be babysitting. I told her i didnt need her services anymore and not to come back.
Okay; examples aside, i am struggling an uphill backsliding battle trying to figure out how to stop being taken advantage of. Just saying "no" doesnt work: The person I say no to retaliates in return with anything from intimidation to trumped up charges. I want to know WHY I keep drawing these ppl to me, I want to know how to recognize it before it happens, I want to know what makes me a target in the first place, I want to know how to NOT be a target, I want to know if it may have anything to do with my upbringing, i want to know what I am doing that may attract this kind of attention, I want to know if maybe I should just move from where I live(past 5 yrs). I really need your help. I have been losing friends over this because they are simply sick of me telling them about this drama(but I need to get it off my chest and get answers). My own mother has become disgusted with me because I cannot seem to learn from these experiences. I have been offered a basic starting salary and the option to enter a partnership with them after a year. After two years I would be transferred 11% of their stock, after three years, 22%, and after four years, 33%. There are currently two owners. I would be an "equal" partner with them after four years.
I understand that stock values rise if the company is doing well, meaning that you can then sell them for a good price and profit. But does it mean anything for me in terms of cash in hand BEFORE I sell them?
Question one: is it a guarantee that a company will pay out dividends (cash in hand, right?) and use only SOME money to re-invest, or is that something very important to ask? Is there any other way, if dividends are not paid out and I do not sell, that owning stock gets me cash in hand?
Question two. When the offer says that stock will be "transferred" to me, does that mean as a gift? Or am I "paying" for it by accepting an ongoing basic salary without a rise? Or do I pay in real cash, and the term is misleading?
