Open Question: Got an ATT complaint and getting nowhere by phone?

I've been spending hours on the telephone to AT&T trying to get a letter from them so that I can get my credit rating improved. I have had promises, but no letter. They've given me Case Numbers galore, and Confirmation numbers in abundance, but NO letter. They've assured me that I would have a result by a certain date 3 times, but no result. Calling them is a nightmare. It's like being on a merry go round and not being able to get off it. And I keep getting disconnected while being transferred, or even just while waiting. Then I have to call and go through the whole thing again. This is all to fix up a problem created by AT&T themselves. The account in question is a CLOSED account. Finalized, Kaput, Done, FINISHED WITH THREE YEARS AGO. Try contacting them when the account is a finalized one, when the first thing that the computerized telephone robot asks you for is the telephone number (account) that you are calling about! I wanted to WRITE but couldn't find an address ANYWHERE to write and COMPLAIN. But NOW I have an ADDRESS.(Delighted laugh!!!) For those of you who want to write to AT&T with your complaint, here it is: ATT COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT, P.O. Box 80639, North Charleston, NC 29416 These "communication" companies do not like to communicate with us, do they? Can anyone else put up physical addresses of other telephone companies so that folks can write a real letter if they need to? I'm sending my written complaint to AT&T by USPS mail with receipt of delivery required. One day I hope to have this resolved. HAH! Yesterday, I called their call center and was so upset at the waste of time and the sheer frustration that I was crying, quietly at first, but then I started to feel so disheartened that I started to sob, still trying to explain what I needed to the call center guy. He got another guy on the phone too, to listen, and the other guy burst out laughing at me. AT&T customer service? Beyond Belief ! more

Resolved Question: ATT early termination fees, can i upgrade?

My contract is set to expire in November, but i finished grad school I am moving out of the country going back home by mid June. I tried to get my ETF waived (or at least prorated) but so far had no luck with the Customer Service Representatives. While I could leave and just forget about the ETF (Since I might never come back to the USA) I would like to maintain a clean credit record just in case. My questions is, since I can not waive the ETF, can I at least upgrade my phone (yes I am eligible for an upgrade) before I terminate the service? This way, at least I will be getting something for the $175, so I will feel less ripped off by ATT. How long do I have to wait to cancel the line so they do not ask me to return the phone? I do would like to just pay the prorated ETF and leave (This is what I consider fair), but since they are not giving me the option I am looking for alternatives Thanks for reading!by the way one of the phone I was considering for the upgrade is the nokia E71xor any blackberry phone more

Resolved Question: I need help. I had a win32banker trojan/virus on my home computer last week and subsequently had it removed.?

My problem is that I nor my wife can not access Yahoo email. We both changed our passwords yet that didn't help. Every time I attempt to login it request my login and password again. My wife is able to access her email from work. Unfortunately my employer prevents me from doing the same. I have repeateds scan the computer no trojans left. I decided yesterday to login from my ATT email account and have the same problem. Yahoo customer service has no clue, and I need to get access to my email. Resolved Question: Can someone help proofread my Thank You letter?

I just interviewed for a Retail Managment position for a location that focuses on helping customers of ATT that are having problems. It is basically a service and repair location. Here is the letter I have written to send to the hiring manager after our interview. Voting Question: ATT Cell phone recommendation?

I'm looking for a phone for my mom. We have ATT so needs to be a phone they can provide. The customer service rep recommended Nokia 2600 but when I looked at it online the reviews were awful. I want something that I won't spend a lot of money on but will have good quality for her. She is older and wants something simple and easy to use. I would like it to have good battery life, Bluetooth, speed dial, big numbers on the screen I'm hoping somebody here can recommend a phone that she would like for when we upgrade. We currently have the samsung A737 and have had a lot of problems with it so ATT is giving us a free upgrade and discount on new phones. I know what I want but for her I'm clueless and she just says I don't care as long as its easy to use and I can see the screen. If it has a camera the button should not be on the side or at least lockable because she hates when it takes the pictures of its own free will. Thanks so much!! more

Voting Question: Can someone please help me with DSL/ATT Wireless Internet?

ATT customer support is a joke. Someone helped me set up the dsl via ethernet and when I asked how to configure it for wireless, he passed the buck and told me to call apple. i have done this before on Verizon with their CS rep's guidance. You have to actually access the modem online and create the user/WEP. ATT couldn't help me at all. I am hoping someone here knows and can help me. I tried turning on AirPort and logging in with my att email (which i just created) and password but to no avail. I have a Motorola wireless modem w/ ATT dsl. I want to set it up so I can access via my AirPort and no longer have to connect via an ethernet cable. I am so fed up and irritated w/ ATT right now. They have the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. Any help is appreciated.I do not have a router. I have a DSL Wireless modem so it plugs directly into my computer. It works with the ethernet chord. What I want is to unplug the chord and work off the wireless connection. On a mac, there is a feature called AirPort in the upper right corner which allows you to pick your wireless profile. I do not have one and it needs to be created through ATT somehow. I entered the login information from my ATT email that they set you up with but that doesn't work. Anybody understand what I'm talking about? Voting Question: Why is my AT+T service locked?

All of a sudden about 8 weeks ago, many AT&T cell phone customers found that their cell phones got no signal. They said that each phone was locked onto the last tower used; they replaced everyone's phones as a warranty thing. I could not replace mine. Now they're telling me it is MY phone, because my SIM card works in one of their phones when transferred. I'm skeptical. Any ATT employees out there? I should mention it's a Tri-band and the tower is 1900, and has worked well up to know. I was put on a Go-phone contract even though it's not on of their Go-phones. more

Resolved Question: recovering of cell phone charges for comercial calls?

Some company I have no bussiness with called my cell phone repeatedly. The number transmitted is not a valid phone number. How can I recover the mobile phone charges for this call? I'm using a plan where I pay for every minute of air time. ATT customer service was of no help with this question. BTW -- I really hate that I have to pay something for a call, I've not initiated. After being with ATT wireless for 4 years...we decided to go with another company due to poor customer service. When we cancelled our acct we were sent a bill for an early deactivation fee for a line that was added halfway into our contract. We were unaware that the extra line that we added would have to wait after the contract to be canceled. We were charged the 175.00 early cancellation fee. I called ATT and requested a copy of the signed contract or a copy of the contract that I agreed to and they won't send me one! The representative said that there is nothing in my contract in regards to the cancellation fee for that third phone. Do I legally have to pay that fee if they can't show me the contract or proof that I agreed to that fee?? more

Voting Question: Why is AT&T (att) the best cell phone provider? Why does tmobile suck?

Hi. I am on a family plan with my dad and mom with tmobile and our contract ends in a few months. I absolutely hate tmobile and i think we should switch to att but my dad is only half convinced so i need a little more support to prove to him why att is sooooo much better than tmobile. I have a contract with sprint, which is about to end. I would like to get an iphone and be added to my significant other's ATT plan, which currently just has the one line, and a non-iphone device belonging to my significant other. Here is what the ATT site says about adding a line: --------------- "Note: For customers with one line of service wishing to add another line and convert to a FamilyTalk plan, please follow these steps: 1. Add a new line of service. 2. After receiving your new device, log in and choose "Convert to FamilyTalk." We apologize for the inconvenience. We're working to improve this process." ---------------------------- After choosing the 'add a line' option, and choosing the phone I want, it asks me to choose the plan to go with this phone. Eventually, I would like to end up with a family 1400 plan, unlimited family texts, and the data plan for my soon-to-be-ordered iphone. I notice, however, that when I choose the family plan, it assumes that I have two lines already, asking me to assign devices. Should I be trying to add the family plan now, or am I supposed to add an individual plan for the new line first, and THEN make it a family plan after the phone arrives and can be activated? This is all very confusing, and I can't find a lot of clear information on ATT's customer service pages. Thanks in advance!!! more

I corently have ATT and am not pleased. My contract ends in March and I am thinking about switching over to Verizon. I have had so many problems with ATT and I think their customer service is horrible. Plus, I think Verizon has more cool phones with QWERTY keyboards (I have the quickfire and it hasn't been that great). So I am thinking about switching. Any opinions? I am not really worried about being able to make phone calls since I use texting more but I do look at customer service strictly. That's important to me. Resolved Question: What are my rights of overage charges on my AT&T cell phone due to customer service rep error/fradulance?

I was told when I made changes to my AT&T cell phone bill that I'd lose my 10,100 rollover minutes. I said no and told them to disreguard the change. The Customer Service rep (ATT call center) said they'd go ahead and wave the rollover penalty and let me make the changes AND keeep all of my rollover minutes. I've got 4 lines and spend between $200-$250 per month and just pay it cause I owe it. I don't go over the bill constantly and all of the sudden my cell phone bill for December is $1450!!! $1190 was from overage charges in daytime minutes. I checked out my bill and they did wipe out my 10,100 rollover minutes back in September when they said they wouldn't. This would have coved all of the overages and my bill wouldn't be an extra $1190 extra. How do you fight this? I don't remember who I spoke with 4 months ago at the call center. This seems to happen ofter with them. Any laws to contract changes? If anyone can help, I greatly appreciate it!!! more

Voting Question: Is there someone who works for Cingular (AT&T Wireless) who is willing to help me with my issue?

Basically, I'm an AT&T customer who recently relocated from California to Texas. I don't want to change my number since I've had it for so long. I want to add a line to my account under the add a line terms ($9.99 additional/mo; FamilyTalk share existing minutes pool incl rollover) however apparently I can't do that unless I want to have the new number be a California number. I plan to use the additional line for business purposes, so having a local number is important. Here is the email I sent to AT&T Customer Service after I spent 57 minutes speaking to various representatives trying to work this out: "Currently, I have one line on a Nationwide plan. I would like to add a like to this plan for business use. Recently, I relocated from California to Texas. Apparently, my usage area is still referencing California and this causes problems when I would like to add a line with a local (Texas) number. Here is what I need. I need to add a line to my account. Changing my existing phone number is not an option. I do not feel that it is reasonable to circumvent your system limitation by having two seperate accounts thus paying 2-3 times as much as I should if I were able to simply add a line. I've been with Cingular (AT&T) for some time and would like to continue to patronize you guys as a customer, however, if a compromise is not available, I will be forced to search for another carrier who will be able to accomodate me. I'd be more than willing to create a second account with the local information as long as I'd only be charged the $9.99/mo that I would normally be charged for adding a line." Personally, I don't think it is unreasonable to ask for a compromise. If in order to handle my request, I have to have a sperate account, I should be able to get it discounted. Looking at the rate plans available with AT&T, I'd have to pay around $30 a month to have service I could (and am entitled to) for only $10 a month. Why should I be punished because of their system limitations? Here is the response I got from the Customer Service department: "Dear Mr. xxxxxx, Thank you for taking the time to e-mail AT&T regarding adding a line to your account with a Texas phone number and keep your California number. I understand the importance of getting information on adding a line to your account. My name is Mary Sheppard, and I am happy to help you with your inquiry. Unfortunately, the only way to add a line to your account would be to relocate your California phone number to Texas. We are not able to have phone numbers for different markets on the same account. The only other option is have a separate account with the Texas phone number and the $9.99 additional line price would not apply to an individual line account. If you would like to complete relocation, please be advised of the following: 1. A new account and wireless number will be activated 2. A new SIM is required and will be sent to the customer by the Relocation Department 3. A credit evaluation is NOT required for Relocations 4. A contract extension is not required to complete relocation Exception: if the customer chooses to upgrade their plan and/or equipment, a contract extension may be required If a customer has a converted account, an equipment upgrade will be performed by the relocation team prior to the relocation 5. I'm not asking for another California number, thus having two cell phones 'roaming 24/7/365' I want a local 'non-roaming' number at the price (or close to) I'm entitled two if I had a local account. Here is my point, currently I work for a bank (a big one) and when a customer moves from say New York to Texas, we can't link new accounts (Texas) to their existing card. Nor can the system even acknowledge they exist for pricing. So what do we do? We open any new account (when they need it) and waive the charges that would be waived if they were linked. Resolved Question: Looking for a way to keep my cell phone number?

My contract with ATT is up and I want to upgrade to a new phone. I've been with them since they were CellularOne in '96 and I think I deserve something better than the pos phones they are offering as upgrades. They refuse to cut me a deal on the phone I want (MOTO Z9), although I can get it for free if I were a new costumer. Only ATT has the phone I want and I'm not going to pay for an unlocked one when I SHOULD get one for FREE. I think after being a customer for 12 YEARS, I should be able to pick out one freak'n new phone of my choice. How do I cancel my service with ATT, start up new service under my husband's name and still keep my number? They don't give a crap for people who have been with them for over a decade... more

I moved about a month ago, and since then I have not been able to logon to att.com to view or pay my bill, along with 1 or two more websites. Some websites just refresh the login screen when I try to login, some give me an error. I've contacted customer service at all of them, and none of them say they are experiencing issues on their end. I've done some basic trouble-shooting including clearing cookies and browsing history, but still nothing.. I AM fully capable of logging on to these same websites from other computers at friends or families houses. Help please??? PS, it's all the same equipment, same service.. nothing's changed but the address! more

With every text I attempt to send, a little notice pops up saying "message sending failed" I have no idea how to resolve this issue!! Have you had this problem?? None of my texts are sending and it's stupid because I have unlimited, but what's the point if I can't use it?? Resolved Question: What is the best TV and/or phone arrangement for vacation home?

We have just finished building a lake house that is 1.5 hours from our home, which we plan to use frequently, but certainly not with the frequency that we live in our primary residence. What is the best arrangement for services such as TV (cable/satellite plans) and Phone service, cell phone reception is not great if existent where we will be. Many cell phone carriers have plans like ATT's "GO PHONE" where you are only charged for the minutes that you use; is there anything similar to that for Cable or Satellite? I would love to be able to just pay for TV and phone service for when we are at the cabin, does anyone know of companies that make concessions for this type of arrangements? Particularly if the customer maintains contracts with them for their primary residence? more

i got a phone called att gtx75 (its almost like a sidekick) i have one problem that is driving me crazy, my bluetooth doesnt work. Resolved Question: Withheld number should be illegal?

I have this cell number for 3 years. More than a month now, I start having withheld and unknown number call pass midnight. When pick up, the person would hang up. Last night, I start to question the identity of the person making these calls. Last night, I have total of 3 withheld calls past midnight. I missed the first call. On the second call, I decided to pick up without answering. The call lasted for 10 second with pure silent. The person called again, I did the same thing. I pick up and didn’t answer. The first 10 second was silent. Then, suddenly, I started to hearing a woman making s*exual voice on the background. That call lasted for around 24 second. I was scared and worried! This morning, I decided to contact ATT Representative. I wish to retrieve the number that called me. The representative said, even if they have the number, they would still unable to give it to me. They told me there is a law restricting them from giving the information. I fail to believe it! A Service provide unable to protect their customer. Even changing a number would not make a different. We make it widely convenience for any criminal to infringe our privacy without any consequences. Thank you for all of your reply. My comment is for barry reply. If we want change and progress, we must demand it. Perhaps, we let this continue all these years because we fail to speak up. That doesn't mean it's right and we should continue tolerate it. more

Voting Question: Text messages take forever to send/receive on my iPhone 3g. How come? help!?

I got it on the iphone 3gs release date, and ever since my text messages will take forever for other people to recieve them (or for me to receive them) and its really messing up a lot of my conversations. sometimes they come/go instantly, and other times it can take them up to like 5 hours to send. sometimes they dont come in/go out at all! i get the little "text message sent" thing and the bar goes all the way, its just that my friends are saying that they arnt getting some of my messages, and sometimes i dont get theirs. i am on att (duh) and i had my number ported from vzw (verizon). also, i seem to have the most trouble getting and sending messages to and from verizon people... any help woul be STRONGLY appreciatedm, and please dont just tell me to call att or apple, because i will eventually, i just want to try this first to try to avoid customer service :D thanks! more
